the first death had taken a toll on everyone.

everyone had panicked for the first few minutes, but soon things began to settle down. in the end, when everyone had regained their sound sense of mind, it was decided that blue—the on-hand crew doctor—would take scans of every crewmate present on the ship & analyse them, for any clues on how they might’ve moved around through the ventilation shafts in the ship.

that was the main suspicion on how the impostor got around the ship & managed to kill white, anyway.

blue had taken scans of nearly everyone by now, except for one crewmate—lime. lime was the prime suspect by default for the crime, since they were the only crewmate even remotely able of entering a vent & navigating swiftly through them—but blue didn’t particularly mind. they knew that lime was an engineer, an experienced one at that, & they also knew of his squish-bone syndrome, which granted them exceptional flexibility to be able to snake through the vents.

they didn’t care that lime was an outcast, or whatever the other crewmates called them. they liked lime, even if they were… something else.

unique, they were.

now, as blue stood in the medbay, they knew that lime wouldn’t just climb out of the vents if they asked them to. lime was far too innately suspicious & paranoid for that sort of thing. instead, they just lowered themselves onto the steel flooring next to the vent in the medbay, tapping the metal grating of the shaft with the back of their pen.

once. twice.

in a repetitive pattern, they spelled out lime’s special code, something which they knew would get the reclusive engineer to come right out.
