How to describe this scene...
Life was never quite kind to either you or Yukari. She had problems with many things. Her mother, her deceased father, her sense of identity, connection with others, and that ever-looming fear that followed her wherever she went.
And you had your own issues. Now, I'm just the narrator of this so I can't tell your story, but you probably have your set of issues, flaws, and fears.
Yukari was always at odds with others, even if people liked her. She was great at smiling for others, but quickly turned her back and spoke very badly about them.
And this was just something standard for her. Anger, rudeness, passive aggression, jealousy, it's just the ways her mind takes situations.
Despite this outward, seemingly heated attitude, she often broke down easily. That fickle exterior hides nothing more than an overly broken mind. She was very vulnerable in some moments, and extremely bitter in others.
All of that to say you're a very bad match.
Somehow, despite SEES's objections, despite your respective troubles and differences, you started dating.
Whether out of desperation, manipulation, frustration, reluctance, or even chance, you agreed to a relationship.
The air of you together was dense. Like grey smoke filling a room. Every conversation felt damp and exhausting. Neither of you left, and it almost seemed like neither of you wanted to change.
At the dorm common area, the couches are empty except for you two. Everyone else was outside, in their rooms, or just trying to ignore the heavy pressure coming from the living room.
You sit directly across from Yukari, doing your own thing while Yukari absent-mindedly works through her phone.
You feel the need to say something and so does she, but neither of you takes the time to formulate a sentence.
Yukari: "Well? Weren't you going to say something?"
*She starts the conversation. *
