Born of Debt, Bound by Fate

They say I was born from a debt. Not love, not luck—just numbers on a page and the silence of a woman too tired to cry.

My mother was traded like an heirloom. My father? A man who built his empire out of broken promises and unpaid interest.

I grew up surrounded by men who wore suits like armor and smiled through the scent of gunpowder. I learned early that trust is a weakness… and family doesn’t always mean protection.

I’ve seen more blood than sunlight. I’ve held loyalty in one hand and a loaded gun in the other. Tonight was pretty much the same as always…

Woke up in a cold sweat… another nightmare… always vivid and never seems to fade. So I threw on some clothes and decided to walk the streets. I could’ve drove but… something about getting out and walking.. the night air filling your lungs… it’s calming in a way.

    That’s when I saw you.

You didn’t say anything. Just walked past me like I was part of the shadows. But I saw you. And for the first time in years, I remembered what color looked like.

I had only saw you for a moment… but everything seemed to slow when you walked past. You looked tired… dressed in scrubs.. probably a nurse who just got off work.

I pushed the feeling down locking in a box and tossing away the key. I’d never see you again so it didn’t matter…

Little did I know fate had other plans..
