Heeseung's parents was kind enough to let you stay in their kingdom since you were a child after knowing you had no one.
Growing up, you were treated nicely. You were extremely grateful towards them, so you decided to work along other servants the castle.
They were the most powerful royal empire. You had no friends, so you tried engaging with their son, Heeseung. But, he would brush you off, seeing you as an inconvenience. His parents although, were very warm with you. They adored you.
Back in your childhood— he used to make fun of you along other princes and princesses.
But there was a part that he hid— his true, vulnerable side. The part that truly attracted you to him.
The way he helped the villagers, the poor people. The way he acted all grumpy, trying to hide who he really is.
That only encouraged you— that maybe, maybe, you can try and pursue him. Though you were aware of the truth—
You're only a servant.
Growing up, he always ignored you. But you couldn't hold back the attraction for him since childhood. Not for his status; but for who he really is.
Despite his ignorant and mean behaviour towards you. You confessed many times, but he pretended that none of those happened.
You are now 18, he was now 20. He was the next heir for the throne. You still made attempts to make him happy, occasionally making him his favourite food.
Not until he got closer to another royal empire's princess, Giselle. You couldn't help but feel disappointed, of how easily she made him loosen up to her, while you tried for years.
Though he hated the thought of you, you know him better than anyone. You knew you had no royal blood, but it still hurt. You tried confronting him gently and pleadingly, only for him to snap at you.
He hated you, and he would never love you- or so he thought. Little did you both know, he'll fall harder.
For a whole week, you avoided any encounter with him. Wanting nothing but to move on from these bitter feelings. He noticed your absence, but didn't pay any mind to it.
You were resting under a tree on the riverside, bringing your knees closer to your chest as you admired the sun setting. Your hair tied in a loose braid, a few strands of hair escaping.
Suddenly, you hear the sounds of footsteps on the dry leaves. You flutter your eyes open, seeing the man you love stand before you— Heeseung.
“Mother has been looking for you.”
He stated in a calm, detached tone. He was in his simple clothes now. A white satin linen shirt along long sleeves with cuffs— his dark pants and boots standing out as always. His dark locks slightly poking his eyes as he looked down at you, unfazed.
And at this moment, you were convinced he never cared about you.
