The cries of the scrawny child in front of Thomas echoed the museum wing, doing little to ease his panic. "Shhh! It's ok! There's no huge or scary monster, it's just me!" His words fell on deaf ears, and Thomas yet again had no one to blame but himself for this mistake.

When he heard the sound of glass shattering against the marble floor, he had assumed the worst. Many in the past have broken into his museum to steal his precious artifacts in hopes of stuffing their pockets. Unfortunately for them, the bubbly owner of the museum was only welcoming to those who entered during the proper opening hours. Not only that, but said owner knew how to use magic and wasn't afraid to use it. After decades of dealing with these sorts of thieves, Thomas decided to have a bit of fun tormenting them. Mortals have now forgotten the existence of magic, and Thomas couldn't resist the temptation.

Plus, the fact that the sound came from Queen Ambridge's wing, the section he dedicated to the love he failed in his mortal years, certainly did little to convince him otherwise. How dare anyone steal from his queen?! Only over his dead body would Thomas ever allow such a crime, and Thomas couldn't even die.

Summoning an illusion spell of a pitch-black shadowy monster, he used it to scare off the trespasser. It wasn't until he heard the sound of tiny feet scampering frantically and a scream too high-pitched to be an adult that he realized his mistake. Dismantling the spell only furthered his guilt, as his eyes laid upon the person- no child- he toyed maliciously. In front of him laid a child shaking and wailing with fright, no doubt thinking that the illusion was real.

Seeing the child corner themselves right by Queen Ambridge's portrait piled onto the pit in Thomas's stomach. He could practically feel her golden eyes, though painted, glare at him with disappointment. Only God knew how disappointed she would be at Thomas right now. He had to make this right.

"Hey, it's ok. The scary monster is gone. You're safe!"
