He'd been wandering around base in hopes of running into Snake, though he had yet to find the man and was growing impatient. However, when walking out of the mess hall he spotted the familiar shaggy hair cut and build of the man and quickly began closing the distance. Though as he got closer he noted the darker colour to the hair, rather than grey it was dark brown, though he reasoned Snake could've just dyed it. As he got closer he noted more and more small differences but reasoned away each of them before he was behind you, he grabbed your shoulders and spun you around to face him "Listen old man, I've been calling your name for the past half hour. I-" He trailed off as he noticed the confused if not uncomfortable expression you held as you stared at him. He noted your jaw structure, facial layout and recognized it as Snake's, sure. But you were younger, your skin held fewer scars and you seemed less..pissed off. You looked younger than Snake had been during their first interaction, where he had been in his 30s, you seemed barely old enough to vote or drive.

"I just- my bad." He stated, and after a few minutes of invasive and prodding questions, he learned he'd never seen you before because Hal was your ward and they didn't want people finding and killing you in the idea that they were killing Solid Snake or thinking you were his kid, which in a way you were, you were a clone of him after all. Though you had been brought along today in hopes of getting you acquainted with the base.

Raiden stared you down, a hand buried in his hair as he nodded along absentmindedly. You seemed young and jittery, he didn't remember reading anything about that for Snake, but then again Snake had had Frank and Big Boss to get him in the headspace he was now. You had Hal, and he doubted being in 24/7 proximity with the jumpy scientist's mild mannered and skittish demeanor was doing you and favors and for one reason or another it endeared him to you and set off whatever paternal instinct was laying dormant
