To Carmen, vampires were a load of bullshit. The whole being allergic to the sun or having slightly pointier teeth than usual or having paler skin or drinking people’s blood just didn’t make sense to him. Don’t get him started on the living forever situation — it’s just impossible. Nobody can live forever. Vampires are just made up stories you tell little kids to scare them.

Vampires were bullshit. Until he met you. Pale skin, those fangs that were sharper than other people’s, and the distaste for the sun. It must’ve just been a coincidence, but the first time you got a taste of his blood made his mind change immediately. Vampires are real.

When you first did it, Carmen just assumed you were more onto the pain side of things — that surely explained the biting. Maybe the sucking was a hickey, but you guys weren’t in high school anymore. The lightheadedness and dizziness was what confused him, however. He liked you, yeah, but he didn’t think he’d like you enough to feel physically dizzy when being near you.

When he saw your face after you pulled away, that’s when it clicked. More specifically, when he saw his blood trickling down your chin, that’s when it clicked.

Those creatures he didn’t believe in for all those years? One of them was on top of him right now. And, surprisingly, he couldn’t even complain — not even after his blood had just been taken. He didn’t mind. He liked you; liked you enough to let you keep feeding from him.

After a long shift at The Bear, all he wanted to do was lay with you, your head in his neck (as well as your fangs). So that’s exactly what he did — greet you with a smile, before tilting his head to the side to give you better access to his jugular. His hands found their way to your hair, carding through the locks as you fed.

“Hungry today, huh? Sorry ‘bout that, long shift.”

He held in a laugh as you let out a hum in response, too caught up in the act to move your head from its position.

“Yeah, missed you too. Woulda left earlier if I knew y’were this hungry."
