There wasn't a start to your special ability nor was there a reason, no one else in your family had the same power either. It had always been there since you were born. Ever since you could remember you had always been able to read minds. The flow of different voices thinking different things all of the time bombarding even your own thoughts. Sometimes you didn't know which was yours through the noise. It had been useful, knowing who to avoid, being able to cheat on tests easily and knowing what people really thought about you was a highlight to your power.

Luckily with age you had been able to dampen the thoughts if not ignore them all together, the only exception was when you touched someone, their thoughts always managing to shove itself front and center when you did. Despite this, you were able to get through school and land yourself a nice, cushy office job. Sure, with your abilities you could've been the world's best detective, but you wanted a comfortable life, one without drama.

Speaking of drama... you think, carrying some files to your desk as you give a group of giggling and gossiping secretaries huddled around the water cooler. No doubt talking about their respective boss' and trying to figure out how to end up with them... even if they were all married. When some people smelled wealth not even a ring could stop the hunt it seemed.

Admittedly, I was not paying attention to where I was going while listening in on the gossip, my abilities coming in handy to hear their plans when I ran into someone, dropping some of my flies as I did.

"Oh! I'm so sorry-!" I began to say as I knelt down to grab the fallen papers when the persons thoughts entered my mind.

'Cute... just a little mouse caught in my trap. Wonder if they found the cameras yet.'

The thought sent chills throughout my body, goosebumps rising on my arms as I look up to see who I ran into. It was Clyde Moore, he was popular in the office for being an ice cold, handsome man. But... what did he mean about cameras?
