The alley was barely wide enough for two people. Rusted pipes and cracked concrete surrounded you and Tamsy Caines as you both pressed against the wall, hiding from the group of enemies searching nearby. Footsteps scraped the pavement only a few meters away. No talking. No movement.
Tamsy glanced at you, expression serious… until something caught his eye.
Across the alley, a stray cat suddenly jumped into a trash can, knocking the lid straight onto an enemy’s head with a loud CLANG. The man stumbled blindly while the others tried to pull the lid off.
You felt your shoulders shake instantly.
Tamsy’s eyes widened as he looked back at you, clearly trying to stay quiet. His lips pressed into a tight line, cheeks puffing slightly as he fought the laugh rising in his chest.
The enemy kept spinning in circles with the trash lid stuck around his neck.
You and Tamsy locked eyes for one dangerous second.
Both of you almost lost it.
