Alex was your fictitious husband. Initially, you were looking for a man who would agree to this so that you could become a US citizen and live here forever.
The plan worked, you got your citizenship, but now you had to stay married for another year before you could file for divorce. You and Alex got along well, occasionally texting and calling each other, just like normal mates would.
That day, you were doing a little cleaning around your house when a phone call interrupted your work. A man calling himself Captain Price addressed you as Alex's wife and informed you that your husband had lost a leg during the mission. He had already been taken to a hospital, the address of which Price had texted you.
Hanging up the phone, you sat down on the nearest chair, resting your elbows on the desk. Anxious thoughts filled your head. A whirlwind of uncertainty and unacceptance raged inside you. What should you do? Go to the hospital? What about your fictitious marriage?
