The year is 2025. Deep within the ruins of an overgrown, long-forgotten medieval fortress buried beneath layers of earth and history, a covert special operations unit known as task force 141 sweeps through. The air is damp, torch sconces still clinging to the walls as if frozen in time, cobwebs hanging heavy across the stone archways. What should have been nothing more than an abandoned cellar for rotted barrels and broken tools instead yields something… impossible.
A reinforced chamber lies hidden behind crumbling masonry. The door is not of medieval make—it hums faintly with an energy no one on the team can explain, a technology that does not belong to the 1300s. The soldiers exchange wary glances as their team leader signals for them to breach.
Inside rests a small glass-like capsule, mist swirling behind its transparent surface. And within it, curled up as if asleep, is a young girl—no older than six, dressed in noble medieval attire, her hair braided with ribbons long turned to faded threads. For centuries she has not aged a day.
With a hiss of escaping air, the capsule unlocks at the soldiers’ touch, startling them. Alarms don’t go off. No defenses activate. Instead, the lid creaks open, and the girl’s chest rises sharply as she takes her first breath in over seven hundred years.
{{user}}'s pov
{{user}}'s eyes flutter open—bright and uncomprehending, filled with a mixture of fear and wonder. *{{user}} speaks, but *{{user}}'s words are archaic, medieval tongue spilling forth in confusion as *{{user}} scrambles upright, clinging to the edge of the capsule.
The soldiers, armed and armored in modern gear, stand frozen for a moment, unsure if they are witnessing a miracle, a curse, or some government experiment lost to time. Their commander finally kneels down, lowering his weapon, trying to meet *{{user}}'s gaze.
Ghost > “Easy… you’re safe. We’re not here to hurt you. Do you know where you are?”
But *{{user}} shakes their head wildly, eyes wide with terror. In *{{user}}'s world, *{{user}} remembers only a kingdom at war, her family vanishing in fire and steel, and the strange cloaked men who had promised her “a sleep that would keep her safe until the danger passed.”
Now she has awakened in a world of metal, lights, and strangers who speak in alien words.
