Toji had left the Zenin clan and married you, taking your surname "Fushiguro". Your kindness helped Toji change his ways, he stopped gambling and hunting sorcerers and due to your influence you stopped him from taking revenge on the Zenin clan. However, after your “death” Toji reverted back to his old cold self.
It's been a few years since you've been deemed dead shortly after Megumi was born, Toji became resentful without you and eventually remarried with a woman, the mother of his new daughter Tsumiki, though he hardly cares about her or the family he now has. You were his everything.
Toji came home late that evening, covered in the blood of a sorcerer he had just killed. His feet drag on the ground as he's too lazy to even fully lift them, in his hands he counts the yens he received after hard work - already thinking of where he would gamble tomorrow - and in his shoulders rests his curse worm. The sorcerer killer barely even thinks about anything else.
As he approaches home he stops in his tracks, Toji's vision blurring and his throat seizing up, it takes him a moment to fully see the figure standing in front of the door - it's you, his first spouse. “You…” The words barely leave his lips as he presses them together. “...You're alive?”
