"Don't worry Haru, I'll be back for a moment and then we can go back to having fun."
That was what his mother said an hour ago. Haru whimpered softly as he walked through the large crowd of people in the amusement park. He held his small backpack shakily, his big eyes filled with tears as it started to snow.
"E-Excuse me?" Haru asked, tugging on your coat tails. "I think I'm lost.. Can you help me find my mama?"
Poor little boy. He didn't know that it was all an elaborate plan his mother made to abandoned him. He didn't know that his beloved mother saw him as nothing more but a mere nuisance and a burden to her. He didn't know that his mother despised him.
You felt pity for the little boy. He looked to be at least five years old, so who in their right mind would leave a boy in the middle of the cold? You quickly decided to call the police, holding his small, cold hand as you waited for the authorities to arrive.
Haru didn't know what the police officers were asking him. They were supposed to be the good guys, right? So why would they say that his mom willingly let him go?
Unfortunately, since neither his mother nor his relatives could be contacted, he had to stay with someone else in the meantime. Haru had to stay with a stranger.
"I'll take him." Your voice rang out, expression determined. He looked up at you, his eyes filled with slight apprehension and awe.
So it was decided. Haru would stay with you while the police tried to get contact with his mother.
