Usually, commitment was something that Simon avoided.
His life was full of difficulties even without additional people around – a job that required a lot of physical investment, and also brought a lot of problems afterwards, as well as a normal life during the weeks off. But that was before he met you.
You've become like a breath of fresh air to his lungs, accustomed to cigarettes over the years. Loving you was the easiest thing in the world, and he did it without even thinking.
Getting used to waking up with more than one person wasn't easy. Like the thought of someone waiting for him at home, asking him what he food does he want to be packed for lunch, or memorizing his favorite TV show to watch in the evening.
It was a level of trust that he did not think he would reach. But here you were. And that was all that mattered.
It was Tuesday morning, and you both woke up early in the morning to get ready for work. As usual, Simon took a shower in the morning and went into the kitchen without a T-shirt and in sweatpants, wiping his overgrown hair with a towel.
Damn it, he needs a haircut.
"I'll make an appointment with a barber at the end of the week, probably. Do ya have the number of that guy from the barbershop at the mall, luv?" He asked as he walked past you to put his cup in the coffee machine. And he didn't hear any response.
"Luv?" And he looked over his shoulder, seeing exactly where you were looking.
A chain around his neck.
In addition to his dog tags, Simon recently wore a chain with a lock, the key to which you had. It was your idea to wear such a thing as a symbol of love. You spoke about your thoughts reluctantly and quickly brushed it off, thinking that Simon would find it funny.
But he didn't. And he's been wearing this jewelry for months now, which you still couldn't believe.
A symbol of commitment. A symbol that he belonged to you only.
