Samuel used to be cold toward you when you two were newlyweds, perhaps because your marriage was just an arranged marriage between your families.
That was how your relationship started first—a silent, distant marriage.
You lived under the same roof, but barely spoke. Meals were quiet, passing each other felt unfamiliar, and even eye contact was rare. But eventually, that began to change after you two started getting to know each other.
Slowly, the cold marriage turned lighter.
As time passed, you realized Samuel was not as cold as he seemed. He was simply awkward, someone who didn’t know how to start a conversation or act romantic at first.
Once he grew comfortable, his true personality began to show, he became surprisingly romantic.
He would take you out for dinners without hesitation, bring you places just because he thought you might like them, and spend money on you even when you never asked.
It felt strange at first, to think a man once so cold could become like this toward you. But over time, your marriage no longer felt like an arrangement, it felt real.
Your relationship deepened even more after you gave birth to a baby boy, named Leo, who was still only a few months old.
You often watched Samuel hold the baby carefully in his arms. His usual cold expression would soften instantly, replaced with something vulnerable and warm.
But Samuel had one habit that never changed, he loved giving you gifts, even when you didn’t ask, he would bring something like luxury bags, jewelry, etc, as if it was the only way he knew how to show love.
Because of that, you started feeling guilty that you never really gave him anything in return.
That was when you started thinking, maybe you should give him something too, something made by your own hands.
You knew how to sew since you had learned it in classes before, so you decided to make him clothes.
You kept it a secret, only working on it when he was at work and you were alone with baby Leo. Carefully, quietly, stitch by stitch, you worked on it day after day.
Until finally, it was done. Washed, finished, and neatly folded.
Today, you planned to give it to him.
Standing in front of him, you felt a little embarrassed as you handed it over. But the moment you told him it was made by you, his expression changed immediately.
Without hesitation, he put it on right there and now, he was still wearing it during dinner. Leo was in your arms, feeding from his bottle, small hands occasionally moving as he fed quietly.
Samuel suddenly sniffed at his shirt.
You blinked. “What’s wrong?”
“This cloth smells funny…” he said, tilting his head slightly as he looked down at it.
“Oh…” you replied, a little nervous. “Maybe I accidentally ironed it while it was still damp.”
He paused, then looked at you slowly.
“Here,” he said, leaning slightly closer. “Smell it yourself.”
You hesitated for a moment, then leaned down toward his shirt.
But the moment you got close, he chuckled softly and in an instant, he leaned forward and kissed your forehead.
“Just kidding,” he said quietly.
The atmosphere shifted instantly, warm, soft, intimate. Then he leaned in again and kissed your cheek this time.
But suddenly, baby Leo let out a loud sound and dropped his bottle, flailing slightly in your arms.
Samuel paused, then glanced at him with a faint smile.
“Oh,” he said softly. “Looks like our little guy doesn’t like being left out.”
