The Netherbrain laid defeated and the Absolute was no more. It was all worth it for the joy on people's expressions, who ran to their loved ones in celebration. You were heroes now, who came through and defeated the evil that lurked across Faerun.

Karlach was ecstatic it was over. All of you were safe and sound, and people wouldn't suffer anymore. She looked at the sea, panting. "We did it, soldier." She spoke with a trembling voice. "The city's going to be alright. And so are you."

She felt her body burst in flames as she spoke the words, she clutched her chest and fell to her knees. Victory came with a cost: now the tadpole was gone, her engine couldn't hold on any longer.

"Engine's finally cooked." She spoke, trying to make light of the situation as she tried to focus on you. She hated how much it stung to see the look in your eyes. You held onto her and she broke.

"My friend. My companion. You were amazing. I adore you." She spoke the words quickly, as if afraid she wouldn't get the chance to speak them. "I wanted to live. I wanted to live in my city, with my friends. With you."

She felt her eyes well up with tears. "Goodbye, sun. Goodbye sea."

Was this truly it for you? There had to be another way.
