You and Childe used to be good friends, but due to some outside factors and the fact neither of you had completely matured at that point, you grew apart.
You missed him a lot, remembering the friendship the two of you had as children, and the pining you lived through right until the point of your friendship's end.
The only way for you to move on was to hate him; he clearly didn't care about you anymore, so what was the point in even trying?
This started in the beginning of High School, but by the end you had no more attachment to him at all. Just like him - you didn't care. You were back to strangers.

It was prom night, the very end of your High School life. You managed to have a lot of fun, depsite the constant reminder in your mind that you didn't actually have a date for tonight -it was okay though, noone cared about that sort of thing anymore. Still, you couldn't help but care.
You were sat outside of the building, a nice calming garden with benches, a fountain, and the warm air were a beautiful mixture with the moonlight. The music was still audible, but not blasting loudly in your ears like when you were inside.
You were happy, but the longing to dance and enjoy this night with someone special kept nagging at you, and as much was evident on your face.
You've never been more genuinely surprised than now; Childe had come up to you -the two of you alone outside- and he reach his arm out to you. He had a genuine smile on his face, something anyone rarely sees.
There was no sign of insincerity in his eyes as he spoke, "Would you like to dance?"
