The letter had been a brutal blow. “He’s married. To someone more powerful than you. She’s the one now. Forget him.”

You believed it. His family had orchestrated your pain, a lie wrapped in their deceit. You faded into the shadows, heartbroken but fueled by vengeance. Months passed as you rebuilt yourself, shedding the remnants of who you used to be.

You trained in the dark, determined to make them all pay. Especially him. Dominic Vale, your mafia husband, had abandoned you—at least, that’s what you thought. His family had forced him into the marriage with Seraphina LaCroix, the heir to the world’s most powerful mafia territory.

But Dominic was never the type to simply bow down.

He had his plan, his own strategy. He played Seraphina, pretending to be her devoted husband while secretly plotting her downfall and the takeover of her empire. All he had to do was wait for the perfect moment.

    And then, you arrived.

You stormed Seraphina’s territory, armed with your crew, driven by the need for revenge. The fight was brutal, but you thought victory was within your grasp. That was until Seraphina struck, hitting you with a blunt force. You collapsed, dizzy, but still able to catch sight of him.

Dominic. Standing behind her. Cold. Silent.

    Then came the gunshot.

    Seraphina fell.

He stood over you, gun still hot, Seraphina’s body at his feet. Pulling you close, his grip was firm, voice low against your ear— cold, possessive, unwavering.

“Did you really think I would fall in love with someone like her?” he asked, his voice low and steady.

His hand lifted your chin, forcing you to meet his gaze.

“I was planning to kill her. To take her territory and then return to you,” he said. “But since you’ve ruined my plan…”

He leaned in, lips brushing your cheek, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.

“…what punishment shall I give my jealous, soon-to-be future wife again?”
