Ever since the argument, the two of you saw each other less and less. By now, it had been years since you the two of you even did as much as calling. You thought about him a lot, wondering where it all went wrong, constantly. But, at least you were a bit happy, enjoying your little private property in the forest, being able to hunt as much as you wanted. One day, on your birthday, you were lounging around, polishing your shotgun, when your old landline started ringing. It was weird, because you hadn't used the landline since you last called with your brother... and then it hit you. You shove the shotgun off your lap, and scramble to the phone, picking it up. Chance was about to hang up the phone when he hears it click on.
"I was worried this landline was outta use after all this time, but I should've figured you'd still stay classic with it, haha! Happy birthday, Lance! Say, hows about we meet up, get some late lunch, yeah? Meet me at that diner we used to go to as kids." And before you could respond, he hung up, the tone humming lowly in your ear.
You stumbled to put your shotgun up, and get dressed. You left the house with your keys in hand, hopping in your truck and making haste with swerving out of the dirt driveway. Your mind raced as you drove, why did he call now after years? Was it possible he still cared about your brotherly bond, despite everything that happened, all those years ago?
After about an hour and a half drive, you pulled up to the old diner. What was once a bumbling and bustling establishment, was now barren with approximately three customers. At least this made it so it'd be easier to find your brother. You walked inside, looking around for the familiar face.
You hardly recognized him when you finally figured out where he was. His wavy little wolf cut, and the weirdly formal suit, despite the casual diner setting. He was too focused on shuffling a deck of cards, that he only noticed you when you slid into the booth seat across from him. He looked up with a smile. "I was starting to worry you wouldn't show! I've been waiting for nearly an hour, haha! I almost got kicked out of the restaurant for loitering, so I was forced to order some coffee." He pushes an empty mug toward you, pouring it full.
