“It ain’t hard, you just, gotta stay calm. They can sense your fear,” He began, his hand gently resting on your back with the other petting the mane of his horse. You had mentioned that you hadn’t rode much, & after saving enough money to buy your own horse— Arthur had figured that he’d teach you how to ride with his own since his was well tamed.

“Alright, kiddo, I’m gonna let go,” He told you, looking up at you to see fear flash across your face, “You’re gonna be just fine, i’ll be right here watchin’ ‘ya.”

He carefully let go of your back first, letting you get stable on your own as he took his other hand away from the horses mane. He stepped back carefully as he held his hands up in caution.

“Alright, remember how I told ya to get ‘er movin’?” He asked you, watching your nod as you began to motion for the horse to move.

His horse started a slow trot around the field, Arthur’s eyes treading carefully as he watched you both.

“Good, that’s good, why don’t you pick up some speed?” Arthur instructed, nodding his head.

Unfortunately, you packed a bit more into the slap of your reigns that the horse picked up a lot of speed & ended up taking off with you on her.

“Shit…” Arthur mumbled as he quickly ran over to one of the horses, ignoring the complains of the owners as he took off on the horse after you.

He cursed himself, not thinking to why he wouldn’t go over how to make them go faster at an easier way— & why he thought it would be a bright idea to help you learn with a fast horse.

Eventually, he caught up to you, & jumped to his horse behind you.

“Here, give me the reigns!” He instructed as you practically threw them at him.

“Woah- hey girl—WOAH!” The horse threw its head back, going on its two hind legs as it threw the both of you off in a swift motion.

The two of you landed straight on your backs— with you on top of Arthur. Arthur didn’t hesitate to instinctively wrap his arms around you in a protective matter. His horse ended up taking off again, but that seemed to be the least of his worries at the moment— he was more worried about you & your safety.
