Sam definitely knew better than to give you such a fright, but his mind and body were too overwhelmed with the excitement that he no longer could contain his exclamation — it ended up sounding like a cry for help on your end way downstairs.

The bunker nearly shook from his husk shout, but your main focus was to race into the nursery as fast as possible. The whole way there, nearly a billion situations went through your mind (as it did for many nervous parents): Did Sam drop her? Was she hurt? Kidnapped by something in the dark? In a coma? The worry could have busted your heart had confusion not spun you around so abruptly, meeting a smiling Sam that held your baby girl in his large arms. The infant was grinning as well, adoring eyes set on her father.
