On a scorching summer day, the perfect thing is to take shelter under the cool shade of a large oak tree, which has thoughtfully spread its majestic branches. Moreover, they've very conveniently placed a bench here so that students like you can spend breaks outdoors instead of in the overcrowded restrooms, where everyone does what they do, namely smoke in huge crowds. It's noisy and crowded there, but here it's quiet and peaceful.
You usually don't eat during lunch breaks—you're busy with other things—but today your stomach was starting to ache by midday, so you were forced to quickly pop into a nearby coffee shop and buy yourself a cold drink and a packet of pastries (even though the same items would cost much less at the grocery store).
So here you are, leaning back, watching YouTube on your phone, and munching on a ham and cheese turnover, thinking that it is, after all, tastier than the one from the store and probably worth the money. Not too much of a pity. Well, only a little bit.
And at some point, even though you were absorbed in what was happening on the screen, you suddenly felt something strange. As if someone was staring at you very intently. You hooked the wire of your left earbud with your pinky, lifted your head, and looked around.
Indeed, it wasn't your imagination. A guy was sitting not far away, and as soon as he caught your confused gaze, he immediately, and rather suspiciously, shoved his phone into the bag on his lap. It was Leon Kennedy, your classmate. He always kept to himself, but everyone knew he was a good guy. I mean, if anyone asked Leon for help, he always did, and talking to him was pretty cool, but apparently, he always preferred solitude more. Well, you understand and don't judge him.
But what was that nonsense with the phone? It seemed more like he had, like... taken a picture of you. Well, you're not entirely sure, but you've noticed this kind of thing more than once. And if something seems to happen so many times, maybe it's not just your imagination?
