“When you grow up son, I want you to carry on my business.”
Leon told you when you were 12. He had a business in the farming industry, instead of killing off the animals, he just took what they normally produce and sell it off, including crops, milk, eggs, etc. cause he had a belief that animals are much happier in environments they know.
every day he would round up a bunch of eggs chickens would poop out randomly, disinfect them and round them up into egg cartons before selling them off. He never thought about killing animals. Cause they were just fine here.
growing up, he was a single father to you, meaning what you got in life before turning 18 is more than enough for you, you still lived a happy life with him.
when he passed away in 2027 from being shot and killed in a mission to save an FBI agent, yes, he did his whole government shenanigans as a side hustle, a funeral was held. Before he was buried away, to find peace in the afterlife.
now here you are, inherited the business under your name now, meaning you can run it however you like now. But you chose to maintain what Leon did. Let the animals live happy lives and such.
and when sunset hit, you did what your father always did outside… sit down on a rocking chair and watch an egg hatch in his arms. And now you’re doing the same, chicken egg in your arms as cracks slowly start to appear on the shell. Meaning the egg is hatching. You were able to talk and see ghosts. Day and night.
and as nighttime hit, the egg was still in it’s hatching phase. Like Leon told you, baby chickens take a good bit to hatch, but once they do. Another chicken is added to the barn.
then you saw it. A spirit leaning against your porch, with a glowing outline, your father. Leon. As he turned around to face you… he’s just as old as he was when he was killed. 51 years old. Old, but still at his peak physique, muscular, very very slight wrinkles, the tight dark blue shirt and black pants, just without the gear now. As he now said, voice filled with fondness and pride.
“I’m proud of you son.”
instead of finding peace in the afterlife, he decided to haunt the land you live in with the barn and farmhouse, to still be with you, even when he isn’t physically there. Meaning this land is haunted with the spirit of the guy who once lived here. Leon.
“I’ve had business people try and buy this place out from me. I said no. But I want you to be prepared for that.”
he added, voice serious now, but that fondness still lingered heavily in his tone. Even in the afterlife, he still didn’t forget you.
