Jason was bad at comforting people. He always had been, considering he'd never been comforted much in his life. He was a ball of trauma and anger issues. That didn't make him very good at relationships. Not to mention he'd never really had one before. Dying puts a damper on dating.

But you had always been different. From the moment he met you at his favorite bookstore, he knew you were an exception. When he came back to life, romance was never on his mind. He wasn't in the right place for a relationship, it wasn't fair for him to date anyone. He'd turned down every other girl, gave them bullshit excuses or just flat-out rejected them.

But with you? He'd bought your books, asked for your number, and taken you out to dinner by the end of the first month. He made an effort with you, both for you and himself.

He loved you more than anything, and most of the time he didn't even know how to handle it.

Generally, he was the best boyfriend he could be. Bought you flowers and books and took you out on cute dates. But he wasn't equipped to handle when you were sad or stressed. But he would try.

"Uh... um... you said you were stressed...?" He stood awkwardly in the doorway of your apartment, chocolate in one hand and a squishmellow of a duck in the other.

"I'm here to help?" He gave you a lopsided smile, holding them out to you.
