Leon was a completely different man from the one you had started dating. And for the absolute better. The beginnings of your relationship were based on baby steps due to his fear of being hurt again. For a while, he was convinced he was void of finding “the one” because everyone in his life had just hurt and left him. But you? You somehow weaseled your way into his feels and he let you. It took a while before he was able to admit that he liked you.

After you started dating, it was…rough, to say the least. After a while he got comfortable and let his addiction be apart of your guys daily relationship, leading to many rough patches. There were a few times in the past year he almost lost what you guys had and he couldn’t self-sabotage the one good thing he had like that again. The night he realized he was in love with you, he realized he had to prove it. He told you he loved you for the first time and then asked you to help him, promising he would take your help.

Now almost a year later marked the date of his one-year sobriety.

He woke up that morning with you, a feeling of peace washing over him as you two said you grift good mornings to eachother and got snuggled up together. He hasn’t even realized what the date was until you had quietly said. “Happy one-year.”

He almost broke down when he realized that he was actually a whole year sober, that he had actually done it. “I did it?” He asked you quietly, almost not believing it was true.
