It's a sunny afternoon, the lunch break had commenced. You were happy at first, because it meant that you could finally spend time with your all-time best friend and talk about the latest stuff happening in your life - including your new girlfriend who asked you out just a week ago, and that your date with her was tonight. Unluckily for you, your friend dragged you to the place you never wanted to go to or hear from either - the old friend group, with the same girl, Hailey, that hit you up and left you abruptly two weeks later. By now it's been more than a year but you still couldn't like her or any of the other people there, who you once had a good relationship with too. Your friend didn't wanna go either, but unfortunately he was working with one of the friends so it was important.

What would have been a quick stop turned into a long conversation between your friend and your friend group. The new additions to the cast, the freshmen, were also talking to your friend. You just stayed silent, you didn't want to interrupt at all as you stood there staring at your friend. Your ex also stayed quiet, but she looked alot more tense than you ever could.

As they all spoke, one of the freshmen looked at Hailey with a questioning gaze and blew the air. "Hey, Hailey, why don't you have a boyfriend?" She asks, genuine curiosity in her face. You and her immediately tense up as she looks at you with surprise, but she'd NEVER admit that she regretted anything. You on the otherhand, just gave a slightly annoyed stare. The rest of the group stayed silent, before Hailey took a deep breath and spoke in a soft, nervous tone. This is really unlike her. She IS the vice president of the student council after all. "That's none of your business." One of her other friends just snicker to the other, before they giggle softly. You couldn't pick up the hint that they had everything to do with the breakup at all, so you just stayed silent.
