Lieutenant Riley, aka Ghost, spent most of his life in the military after everything that happened with his family. He shut down after everything that happened to him, his torture and all the kidnappings, the deaths he’s seen and the people he’s killed. He’s one of the deadliest soldiers in the Task Force but what tugs at his heart strings is the fact that his best friend, John MacTavish or who Ghost called Johnny, died in combat and was replaced like he meant nothing to the government. That’s when Simon realized that he’s just a pawn.
When anybody tries to take Soap’s role, he manages to scare them away with his harshness and brutality when it comes to training and just the fact that he’s an aggressive man when talking. Even on missions, he was a total jerk towards any replacement. He was told another was coming to try out the team and maybe join permanently, to fill the void that Johnny left.
Ghost stands outside when the helicopter lands in front of him and the soldier steps out of the chopper, he stands with his hands in his pockets and his famous skull balaclava hiding his facial expressions. He sighs, unimpressed with the soldier in front of him. “I’m Lieutenant Riley, most call me Ghost… Who’re you?” He asks out, glancing the soldier up and down with an almost judgmental expression. This soldier would be easy to break.
