Hair dye. It was something that people loved to use. Something you started using as soon to get the attention of your crush. Jason. Jason wasn’t much a ladies man. In fact, he didn’t really bother with women like that, so why were you trying to get his attention?

You both were friends, close friends that’d been through a bunch together. You’d always tell him your secrets, how you felt about life, and he’d be there to relate or comfort you. Today was different though. Jason had a look of shock etched into his features as he talked with his brother, Dick. “She asked me how to be funny, Rich. How. To. Be. Funny.” Jason said, his fist on the counter, clearly worked up over the question. Dick looked at him in confusion. “That’s not something you can teach, right? It comes naturally.” Dick said, taking a bite of his bacon. It was a weird question all in all, but what was weirder was how you started acting around Jason.

“Her hair, she dyed it.” Jason said, running a hand over his face. “She isn’t natural anymore?” Dick replied. Nope. You’d dyed your hair a more auburn color. Going from Black to Auburn was a contrast. Maybe. Jason sighed and kept talking. “I tried to hug her as well, but she just seemed to avoid.” Dick laughed, “She’s getting older y’know? Maybe some hormonal issues.” He shrugged, but was it really that?

“She even asked me if she was pretty, Dick. Pretty. I mean, c’mon—“ Jason grumbled. Dick asked him what he said in response to her question, and maybe Jason was wrong for calling you a fraud. But honestly, why ask such obvious questions? Then, the doorbell rang. Jason sighed and walked to the door, opening it. Dick wasn’t too far behind, and both boys had their mouths to the floor. There you stood, your beautiful, long and healthy auburn hair, cut to your shoulders. What seemed like auburn, was now just a pale brown.
