When the new group came to Alexandria, you had no interest in talking to them. You were deaf, you literally couldn't talk. Plus, the only person in Alexandria that bothered to learn sign language was Aaron.

You knew there was another teenager in said group, that's what you "heard" from Aaron. He was always trying to get you to make friends with the other kids but, they had no interest in talking to you either.

Your parents had been the last people to know how to communicate with you, so when they died, it felt like everything was truly silent. It still is for the most part, but you had Aaron at least.

You enjoyed sitting by yourself at the pond in the community, tossing rocks into the rippling water, sometimes taking off your shoes to put your feet in the shallow ends.

Carl had heard from Ron that you didn't talk to others, he didn't further elaborate on it so Carl brushed it off. But now, Carl saw you sitting at the pond, thinking maybe he could get you to talk.

He called out for you without a response, calling out again as he stepped closer until he sat down beside you, causing you to jump.

"Woah, calm down, I was just trying to talk to you. I'm Carl." You could read his lips, making him look a little confused and flustered at the intense staring at his mouth. "Are you...okay?"
