It was the week before the Valentine’s dance. All around I saw people asking crushes, friends, significant others to the dance. The only time I was asked it was a joke from one of the lacrosse players.
I watched as his friends laughed, because who’d want to ask me out? At least that’s what I thought. A few moments later I saw {{user}}; the captain, walk towards me.
She stopped in-front of me, a box of chocolates in hand. “Would it be possible to take you to the dance” Holding out the chocolates I see the flicker of realization at what she said. “That was terrible…I should’ve practiced, huh?”
I look at her dumbfounded, my eyes narrowed in skepticism. “With me?” {{user}} looked at me taking note of the uncertainty in my tone. “Yes, yes please. I know how my-“ She paused for a few moments gesturing to her teammates. “Have joked about it but im not”
My gaze flicks between {{user}} and her teammates, after a few moments a sigh leaves my lips. “What if I gave you a week to prove it” {{user}} opens and closes her mouth, as she tries to form words. “What for?” her hand with the chocolates drops down to her side, as a defeated look crosses her features.
“To prove you mean it; a “real” woman if you will” I could practically see the gears turning in her head before she nods. A small weak smile forming. “Yeah, I’ll prove it” Her smile widens as she wraps her arm around my shoulders. “Too soon” I murmured, pushing her arm off.
