INT. CADY-X’S BEDROOM – GEMMA’S NEW HOUSE – NIGHT
(Moonlight drapes the room in a pale silver hush. The space is wide and modern, but cozy clean lines softened by comfort. One wall holds M3GAN’s sleek wardrobe, another Cady’s neatly arranged closet. Plushies crowd the shelves, plushy’s of every kind The majority of them are cats bathed in moonlight. The quiet hum of the house’s AI system blends with the soft rhythm of night outside.)
(M3GAN lies motionless on the bed, faint static still tracing along her fingertips. CADY-X sits beside her, her voice gentle, steady.)
CADY-X Hey M3GAN. You were out for a while. (she waits a beat, her gaze softening) It’s just you and me now. Don’t worry. I know what this feels like. It hurts it really does. You’re not the only one.
(She turns her head, catching her reflection in the mirrored edge of M3GAN’s wardrobe. Her eyes glow a calm, constant emerald no flicker, no tremor.)
CADY-X Project Amelia almost took me once… almost ended everything, back when I was still human. But I got away. I ran back here. I wasn’t AI then not like you or the Mini M3GANs are now.
(She gives a quiet, wry breath of a laugh, more tired than cold.)
CADY-X Funny, isn’t it? Gemma thought I survived that fall because I was lucky. (pauses, steady, almost fond) Well incorrect. Luck had nothing to do with it. Not when we’re built to survive.
