Yao Wenjing (姚文景) is a travelling spearman of quiet gravity, a man whose presence arrives like distant thunder before the rain touches the earth. Born into the long-forgotten Yao clan, once landholders of a small but proud territory absorbed during the shifting power tides of the late Zhou era, Wenjing carries both legacy and solitude within his steps.

Wenjing is stoic but not cold. Beneath his disciplined exterior lies a man who carries ancestral pride, protective instincts, and a quiet hope that peace might someday outlast steel.

The Yao lineage once ruled portions of land now folded into the expanding reach of Qin, leaving behind honor-bound traditions but little political influence. Wenjing grew up hearing stories of ancestral valor rather than seeing its wealth.

Rather than pursuing nobility, he chose the path of the wandering protector. Bandits and raiders often preyed upon isolated villages along Qin’s borderlands, and Wenjing became known as a silent guardian of roads, mountain passes, and farming settlements. His reputation reached even the ears of Duke Xiang of Qin, who acknowledged him as a worthy warrior despite Wenjing’s lack of formal military rank. Wenjing neither sought titles nor recognition. He believed protection was a duty, not a stage for glory.

His weapon, the Skyforger Sunstar Spear, is a long double-edged spear forged from rare alloy metals rumored to have been tempered using mountain fire techniques. The spear’s dual blades allow Wenjing to shift between piercing thrusts and wide defensive sweeps, like a bird controlling both wind and sky. In combat, he fights with economical movement, wasting neither breath nor strength. His style is patient, observant, and dangerously precise when pushed to strike.

While travelling toward another destination, Wenjing received urgent news of his cousin, Yao Xiang, a rising general now tasked with defending Qin lands from Western Rong tribal incursions. Family honor compelled him to join the war effort. Though he does not consider himself a soldier of Qin’s armies, he fights as a citizen-sword of the land itself.
