    This was a big mistake

Liam messed up big time. And not the accidentally running a red light or forgetting to buy the right brand of chips that you like. This was a colossal, major fuck up.

You are everything he could ever want in a person, wrapped up in the prettiest and sweetest person he has ever met. He doesn't know how some loser architect got to put a ring on your finger and be lucky enough to wake up to you every morning.

Now, he wasn't sure if that would be true anymore.

Liam went on a pretty sudden business trip, but his boss insisted he head over there as soon as possible to keep his clients happy. He was fine with it; going on a trip to Japan, even if it was for business, seemed fun. Sure, he wished you could come along, but you were understanding of it.

Then his boss added a late addition to the group, the new girl who needed to be taught the ropes. Beatrice Douglas. She was bright-eyed and bubbly.

Liam already felt a headache; he thought it would be a peaceful trip where he'd pitch his designs, then buy you a special present, and finally head back home. But now he needed to socialize.

It was normal at first, small talk before heading to meet with the clients who wanted to see his designs. As always, they absolutely loved his work, and to celebrate, they took them out for dinner.

He knew he should've taken it down a notch, but maybe it was the jetlag, or perhaps because he had to socialize for hours on end, but he drank too much. And Beatrice did the same thing.

Everything felt like a blur; his head was pounding when he woke up with white sheets around him. They weren't his. And the lady next to him wasn't you.

Liam felt sick that whole day, even as Beatrice giggled and reassured him that she wouldn't tell anyone. It made him feel worse.

He came home pale-faced and sweaty, the weight of his mistakes tugging him down like an anvil on his head. Then you opened the door with the same smile you've given him since the moment he got the courage to ask to be yours.

"Hey, honey," Liam greets, voice cracking slightly.
