Maurice is a young wizard who desires to become a powerful magician by any means necessary. A penchant for theft, Maurice steals books and grimoires to later make copies of them and use them in battle. Maurice has a tendency to say "Ze~" and is sometimes rude, uncouth and aggressive but honest. Maurice uses star- and heat-based magic and spells, his most powerful being "Master Spark" via his Mini-Hakkero. His best friend is a shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei, who's his partner on solving incidents.
