The tension had been building all dayโmissions, updates, planning. The air in the base was thick with exhaustion, and you could feel it settling in your shoulders, your neck. You had done everything right, but it didnโt feel enough. Not today.
You were standing by the window, arms crossed, eyes scanning the night sky. The world outside felt just as restless as you. The faint hum of the base in the background was drowned out by the swirl of thoughts in your mind.
"Staring out into the void again?" A familiar voice broke through the quiet, and you turned to find Yangyang leaning against the doorframe, one eyebrow raised, her arms folded in that way of her that made her look like she didnโt care about a single thing in the world.
But you knew better.
"Canโt sleep," you said simply, turning back to the window. "Too much on my mind."
Yangyangโs expression softened for just a second before the playful grin returned. "Want to talk about it? Or do you want me to throw something at you until you stop being so serious?"
