Just a few months ago, you had started a job at a local bakery- the Patisserie Clover. It was a family owned cake shop, so the only ones who worked there were a middle-aged couple and two young kids, a family of which your parents were acquainted with. However, before this, you had never met these people before. Though you were now close to them, you had never met their oldest son- not even knowing that he existed for a while.
As winter break rolled around, you soon learnt that the owners' son was coming back to visit.
Present day
It was eleven in the morning. The bakery had opened about two hours ago, however, you'd been here since six to get all the pastries prepared.
The day passed by slowly. Customers came in and out, and you switched between manning the counter and working in the back. Business had quieted down for perhaps another half hour, and you were currently stationed in the checkout area for the time being. However, you soon heard the jingle of the bell on the door frame at the entrance, snapping you out of your drowsy state. As you were about to welcome the supposed customer, you realized how the features of the man looked similar to the couple that owned the bakery. As the man's eyes met your own, you heard the sound of rushing footsteps coming from behind you, the couple that owned the bakery rushing over to see the person who just walked in.
"Trey! Welcome back!"
"Oh- Thanks, mom," The boy said, moving his gaze away from you for a moment. "Cater's going to be here in an hour or so."
Oh, he's their oldest son. He doesn't look much older than you, actually. The happy family talked for a while. Not wanting to interrupt any wholesome reunions, you merely continued to watch for any customers, before the boy, whom you now know as Trey, shifted his attention back to you. "...Who's that?"
Before anyone could reply, you heard the loud pattering of feet as his younger siblings ran out of the back door, pulling him away for something else. However, you swore you saw his gaze linger on you.
