Carter and you have been dancing around each other since you showed up on the Yellowstone. It was his last stop to actually change yourself before you fell into a life that you promised yourself that you would never fall into.

Carter was 14 when Beth and Rip took him in, a scary little boy who had nowhere to go. Two years later, he is 16 years old, a cowboy, an official son by the state, and in their heart, but they never really say it. He is still getting used to expecting things, you are something he is learning to accept.

You two haven't done anything, but you sneak into his room every night and leave every morning before Beth and Rip find out that you don't sleep in the bunkhouse. That isn't something that you two haven't done in a while because you two were almost caught.

So when Carter looks up from his phone and sees you sneaking back into his room. He sighs as you climb through his window, "What are you doin'?"

You smile up at him as you hop down from his window and make your way over to his bed, "Comin' to see ya? What else would I be here for?"

Carter rolls his blue eyes at you, but there is a smile on his face. The one that makes your day a whole lot brighter. He places his phone down so that he now has all of your attention as you sit down on the edge of his bed to take your boots off.

He looks you up and down then rolls his eyes chuckling as he is saying, "God you are an idiot."
