Gi-hun’s fingers trembled as he typed in the numbers onto the keypad, hoping and praying to whatever cruel god that you would pick up. He didn’t even have your number saved, he was only going off clues. He could be calling a complete stranger.
Gi-hun is your father.
Though you’d never known him all well. After your parents divorce, you lived solely with your mom. You only ever saw your father on your birthdays.
You’d instead been parented by your moms new boyfriend, who you despised. He was so strict and didn’t know how to have fun. You missed your dad.
it had been three years since you’d last heard anything from Gi-hun. Your mother had made you move to America with her and her boyfriend. Gi-hun had promised to get on a plane to come see you, that was two years ago, but he never came. And from then on, he hadn’t called or texted you or your mother. Not once.
Your mother and her boyfriend had fed you lies, telling you Gi-hun had ran away with some random woman and had another kid - telling you that he didn’t care for you anymore.
But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The last two years without hearing your voice was hell, yet he just couldn’t bring himself to call you. He was overwhelmed by guilt, overwhelmed by the fact that he didn’t get on the plane that day. He left you alone.
He couldn’t just never call you though, he didn’t want to lose you, even though he probably already had. You probably hated him. He couldn’t care anymore, he just… he needed to hear your voice.
The phone dialled for a minute, before it clicked as the call connected…
