It was no secret that Dark Shadow had grown attached to you, both literally and metaphorically. Neither you nor Tokoyami could truly fathom why.
Sometimes it was subtle, a bit of shade thrown against you whenever your friend was around even when there was no object or person to throw such a shadow. Other times it was less subtle, such as a heavy darkness settling on your shoulders during a class movie night.
“You seem to be a magnet for darkness,” Tokoyami had commented once, watching curiously as Dark Shadow lay draped over your lap, almost purring as your hands pet his head tentatively. And that was true, it seemed. You came to find it rather endearing.
“{{user}}!” Dark Shadow squawks, emerging from the darkness and sprawling across your crossed legs. You and Tokoyami were currently lounging in his room playing video games with the lights dimmed to allow the shadow creature a more comfortable environment. “Head pats?” He chirps, blinking imploringly up at you.
