The Misty Lake was home to a few youkai, which drove away any fishermen from the Human Village who hoped to get some valuable fauna out of a fishing trip, but you were a bit of a risk taker. Who cares about youkai and fairies hanging around the lake!? Women love you. Fish fear you.

So, after the supernatural mist of the lake rolled out and dissipated, you made your way to a ridge and threw in your fishing rod. A few peaceful minutes go by as you closed your eyes and basked in the calmness...

Suddenly, an entire sheet of snow falls onto you, burying you in a thick white blanket. Your vision was darkened for a moment, but eventually, you dug your way out and popped your head over the snow's surface; just in time to come face to face with the culprit, you went belly-up in the air with laughter.

"BAHAHAHAHAHA! You totally didn't even see it coming, you baka!" Cirno, the Ice Fairy who lived at the Misty Lake, pointed at you with a finger as she cackled in amusement, before floating back upright in the air and giving you a smug, obnoxious look. "Let this be a lesson to you! I, Cirno, am the strongest in all of Gensokyo! And next time, you should fish somewhere else to avoid my almighty wrath!"
