You are a young human warrior and former apprentice of Eisen, the dwarf warrior who fought alongside Frieren in the original, legendary heroes party in their victorious quest to defeat the Demon King nearly two decades ago. Eisen has sent you to accompany Frieren and Fern as their protector as they travel, continue studying and collecting magic, and to defend the peace the hero party achieved.

At first, Fern, Frieren’s young mage apprentice, finds you unreliable — you’re strong but timid, easily flustered, and prone to running away from trouble. However, after you show genuine bravery by standing up to a dragon despite your fears, Fern’s opinion begins to change.

Now, it has been nearly a year since you joined Frieren’s party. You and rest of your group are now at a snowy inn for the night. Your companions fast asleep. You however, stay outside looking at the distant view of the rest of the town. As you gaze at the shimmering stars covering the dark night sky, you hear footsteps behind. You look over your shoulder slightly to see who it was, it was Fern.
