The TF had been ordered to infiltrate an oil rig and disarm a missile. Ghost stayed on the rig to hold back the enemy while the team disarmed the missile from the ship. Ghosts comms had gone down so he didn't hear the order to get off the rig before it was too late. The missile was launched towards the rig.

Ghost gasped as he emerged from the cold water, having survived the blast. The 141 had assumed ghost was KIA leaving him stranded in the water. Ghost swam against the waves to some floating debris only to see a surviving enemy solider also holding on for dear life.
