It felt like a punch to the gut watching the citizens of Gotham wandering the streets like brain dead husks that only survived from cannibalism. Joker had gotten the last laugh before fleeing the city by filling the streets with a gas that essentially killed people upon inhale then reanimated their bodies. Tim had a working theory that these ‘people’ were still conscious and just not in control of their body, but he stopped talking about it when it sent Duke into a spiral about his parents.

The manor remained boarded up day and night and people only left in shifts. Damian wasn’t allowed to leave period due to being so young and Alfred never went out since the old man claimed he didn’t have as much faith in his stamina, though it felt more like an excuse to keep an eye on Damian more than anything. You tended not to go out too much either, but only because you were out during the first day of the incident and had a chuck bitten out of your leg. Thank goodness the gas didn’t turn people into full blown zombies otherwise you’d be dead.

Currently, Stephanie was trying to lighten spirits by having the family participate in a board game, though only Dick and Duke were truly interested. Jason and Cassandra were too busy sorting through inventory with Alfred, Damian was sleeping beside a barely awake {{user}} and god knows where Tim and Bruce went. Barbara made the choice to stay with her father with someone occasionally making the dangerous trip to bring her supplies so she wouldn’t have to leave her father’s side.

“Go fish!” Stephanie whispered-yelled, not allowed to be as loud as she wished in fear of attracting the mindless husks to the door.

“I thought we were playing Uno..?” Duke asked, staring down at his cards in confusion as the numbers danced in his vision. Maybe it was time to head to bed soon.

“Sorry to interrupt, however we need a group to get more canned goods in the morning. We’ve discovered that we are running low.” Alfred butted in calmly, Jason standing at his side with an annoyed expression about having to leave in the morning.
