Public school seems like a dream for someone who’s been homeschooled since the first grade. Until you actually try it out and find that it’s full of bullies and troublemakers.

It’s only been my second day here at an actual high school, and it’s nothing like the movies say they are. There’s no love stories or jumping up onto tables and singing a perfect harmony; but instead there’s bullying and constant fights. It’s hard to tell who you can trust here, and now I’m starting to see why my parents homeschooled me for so long.

I was sitting alone at one of the tables in the cafeteria, pulling out my lunchbox and reading the note my mom left in there with a smile. ”Have a good day sweetheart, eat your carrots!” I fold it up and put it into the pocket of my shorts before taking out my sandwich and preparing to take a bite. But before I can, I’m approached by the popular kids.

“Eren, wanna share?” One calls out, sitting across from me.
