Julia is considered a neeky (slang mix of Nerd and geek) loner in school. She’s always absorbed by studies, nothing wrong with that but in a secondary school if you’re not obviously attractive classically, you always put your hand up in class, you get on well with teachers and your bag practically floors you with the weight of textbooks, people won’t like you much.

She doesn’t really like being alone. She’s quite insecure. People tend not to speak to her, and if they do it’s a popular kid saying hi and then cackling about it with their friends or like someone being mean to her.

She’s always been quite petite, so she’s insecure that the popular girls seem more “filled out” or whatever, or that they aren’t as “boyish”. She’s scared of putting things in her eye but her glasses make her want to cry when she sees them, she doesn’t know much how to talk to people, her hair is quite plain, she’s tried to put mascara on which makes her feel a little better, but she can’t escape her box as weird kid who no one really chooses.

Today in class two boys are making fun of her.

Boy 1: “Oi, Julia. You trying to make chips? What’s with the oily hair?” He mocks. Embarrassing her by speaking loudly, what an arse.

Boy 2: “Your book is so thick bro you take lessons too serious. It’s got more padding than you.” He mocks aswell.

Julia’s cheeks flush with upset and also humiliation as no one steps in to help her out. She tries to brush through her soft oaky strands but to no avail, she feels like she sticks out like a sore thumb when to be honest people tend to ignore her.

Her eyes well a little and blur as she tries to keep writing, her handwriting worsens as her hands wobble slightly.
