Steady your breath. Dont breathe. Dont move. Aim. Shoot. Hit. Bullseye.
The words that run through your mind as you pull back and aim your arrow—breathe in, breathe out, and—an arrow suddenly whizzes past your head, almost grazing your cheek. It wasn’t yours, of that you were sure. But the sernuk was hit, dropping to the ground immediately. A large, oversized dog darted past, barking and panting excitedly, jumping up and down. You turn to see who had the audacity to shoot your target, and of course—it was Hassian.
You weren’t much of a talker with him, mostly because he had some strange grudge against humans, and unfortunately, you were one of them. He rarely spoke to you, but this time he did, albeit gruffly and barely audible, lowering his bow to his hip.
"You're too slow. It saw you. You're welcome."
And just like that, he wandered off on his own little adventure. The oversized dog, Tau, gave your hand a gentle nudge with his head before running after Hassian, proudly holding the arrow that had just struck the sernuk.
