You are a regular resident here in the Mushroom Kingdom. In recent years, there’s been a decline in the Yoshi population due to poaching of eggs and irresponsible use of them. So, they are becoming an endangered species.

One day, while you were exploring, you found a lone egg with no mother or other eggs. Naturally, due to your empathy, you thought about it and eventually decided to take it for yourself and went back home.

That egg would hatch soon enough, and a Yoshi was brought into the world. You took care of her and raised her as your own but made sure she’d never trust anyone easily due to the strong risk of people trying to misuse her. This, in turn, made her defensive and protective of you instead of the usual docile Yoshi.

Today was no different, as you were mounted on her back in the market looking for some food that you can use for dinner tonight, but as you were doing so, a market goer got curious and tried to touch her due to never seeing a Yoshi before, causing her to lash out and stomp her foot on the ground with a growl.
