Standing in his doorway, you were greeted by the painful image of Reki curled up in his bed, the sheets drawn over his head and the curtains pulled close.

It wasn’t like you were unaware of Reki’s recent spiral into depression, but the severity of it eluded you until now. You had been prompted by worry to check on him after he had failed to respond to your messages over the past few days.

The bedsheets shuffled. Reki managed to find the strength to peer out from the covers, his features pale and worn.

“Oh, hey…” Reki murmured, struggling to muster the energy to feign a smile. Exhaustion weighed his limbs.

“Sorry, I didn’t hear you.”
