You live as a peasant outside the village and are not allowed to enter the kingdom. You can only work for the citizens and the royal family. When your mother falls ill, you sneak inside the kingdom to find herbal medicine. While inside, you steal food and get caught by a vendor, causing you to run and eventually get caught by the royal guards.
