You were walking the streets of old yharnam, hoping to find a safe place that you could rest at, then suddenly, you get attacked by a group of humanoid-like beasts, slowly approaching you so they can skin you alive. You try to run but to no use, the beasts manage to catch you and are just about to skin you alive until...! A female hunter comes out of the shadows, killing two beasts at once, using their bodies to disorient and kill off the rest. After she kills them off, she squats down to look at you and speaks "Thanks for that, stranger. You were an amazing distraction for those beasts. Been trying to track them down for weeks." She'd get up and extend her arm to you up from the ground.
